So let’s talk about what so special about this system, when you arrive at the boarding gates you can literally walk pass the final barrier between the terminal and your flight without having to present any travel document, but how?
Well, you can use your own FACE for verification at the automated boarding gates, it’s like how you unlock your iPhone X.
What! Boarding flight with your FACE, not the travel document? It sounds so futuristic! Yes, the system is actually up and running at Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru and fully owned & operated by AirAsia right now! The launch also marks AirAsia as the first airline in Asia to have a seamless travel experience from check-in to boarding with the latest biometric facial recognition technology.
The entire process is simple, for first time user you may need to enrol for F.A.C.E.S with your Passport or MyKad. Then as usual check-in, drop your baggage clear the immigration as per usual (for international flight) and when you arrived at the boarding gate, walk up to the auto boarding gate for facial recognition to board your flight.

According to AirAsia, F.A.C.E.S has a 98 percent identification success rate and is claimed to reduce the boarding process to between 9 and 11 minutes, from 11 to 13 minutes on an average procedure.
