Heading back hometown celebrating this Chinese New Year? Plus Malaysia Berhad estimates about 1.6 million vehicles will use the North-South Expressway on every peak day during the Chinese New Year holiday so if you don’t want to stuck in the traffic for whole day long then you should take note of this Travel Time Advisory (TTA) issued by the Plus Malaysia.
As part of an effort to reduce traffic congestion during the peak season, several measures have been taking place to distribute the highway traffic by offering toll rebate during selected NON-PEAK days & Travel Time Advisory (TTA).
As TTA suggest, during 9 – 25 February 2018 traveling Northbound traveler from Klang Valley to Perak, Penang, Kedah & Perlis or Southbound traveler from Klang Valley to Johor start your highway journey BEFORE 10 am other states not listed start your journey AFTER 10 am.
For Southbound traveler from Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak to Klang Valley or Northbound traveler from Johor to Klang Valley, TTA suggests starting your highway journey BEFORE 10 am. and other states not in the list start AFTER 10 am.
Now you know when is the ideal time to start your highway journey, so let’s talk about the 20% toll rebate, well there’s a little bit tricky about the toll rebate because there is some condition to fulfill in order to get this 20% toll rebate when you traveling during the designated NON-PEAK days which falls on 12, 13, 20 & 21 February 2018.
In order to get the rebate, you must fall under class 1 vehicle & make your toll payment with PLUSMiles or Touch ‘n Go Cards with more than 100 kilometers traveling during the 4 NON-PEAK days. Take note that you still have to pay the toll in full, but the 20% rebate came in a form of toll reloads on the same PLUSMiles or Touch ‘n Go Cards at all PLUS customer service centers from 15 March until 14 June 2018.
However, the 20% toll rebate doesn’t apply for toll payment at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Tanjung Kupang & Penang Bridge Toll Plazas. In the other words, for 3 tolls mentioned above you still have to pay in full amount even during the designated NON-PEAK days.
We hope this info is helpful for your highway traveling during this festive season. Drive safe, drive smart and we wish you have a pleasant bonding time together with your family & love one during this Chinese New Year.
